Meet our Staff


 Jackie Bodtmann:

I am a licensed Zumba, Zumba Kids, and Zumba Kids Jr. instructor. Dance Fitness has transformed my life. February 2013 is when I started my weight loss journey and by February 2014 I had lost over 70 lbs. I love to dance so I tried Zumba and here I am today.



Kristen Calenda:

After an injury in college, Kristen needed something that would keep her in shape but help heal her injury at the same time. Yoga found her and she realized it kept her balanced through tough times. Kristen became a registered yoga teacher in 2012. She also specializes in children’s yoga and yoga for those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is currently pursuing her master’s in Special Education and hopes to incorporate more yoga into the classrooms.

Elizabeth has been a personal trainer since 2007.  She teaches Tabata, Kickboxing, Spin, and Strength Classes. She enjoys training for 5K races and has been the Physical Education Teacher at Meadowbrook Elementary School in Hillsdale since 2002.



Ellen Davies:

Ellen Davies has been AFAA certified and teaching at Westwood Health and Fitness since 1994. She has taught a wide variety of classes over the years, including Step, Aerobics, Spin, Senior Aerobics, Water Aerobics and Toning Classes. In 2009, she became a certified Personal Trainer through AFFA. Last year, she became certified in TRX and Core Bar. In 2004, Ellen began to study traditional Okinawan Karate and earned her first degree black belt in 2009 and her second degree black belt in 2012. Ellen teaches children karate at the local Y, where she is the Group Fitness Coodinator. When she is not teaching classes or training clients, Ellen enjoys swimming and running and has participated in several half marathons.

Toby has one fitness philosophy – GET MOVING! Her fun and no nonsense approach to working out will keep you motivated in order to achieve your personal best. She is a WITS Certified Personal Trainer and holds several group fitness certifications including, ACE, Mad Dogg and TRX. She brings her passion for an active, healthy lifestyle to each and every class and would love for you to join in on the fun!

Mad Dogg certified, I’ve been an indoor cycling enthusiast for 20 years, but fitness has been a part of my whole life. The playlist is everything to me! While I have definite favorites, you’ll always hear a soundtrack that compliments the specific ride profile. I love instructing new riders, to show them that anyone can excel at this addicting and fun class! My goal is that when you walk into each workout, you know exactly what you are working for; so that all of your effort has a purpose and is driving you to succeed.

Evette Halligan is a certified personal trainer/ group fitness instructor. Evette has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a post- graduate degree in exercise physiology from Montclair state university. For over 25 years, Evette has worked as a fitness instructor/ trainer to help others enhance their overall health and fitness levels well as helping them to reach their fitness potential.

Ray has been affiliated with Westwood Health & Fitness since becoming a member in 1998. In January 2003, Ray became a certified Spinning instructor and has been teaching here at WH&F ever since. An avid road cyclist, Ray’s classes capture the true spirit of real outdoor riding and are designed to improve your physical fitness as well as impart skills to improve any level of rider, whether you ride competitively, socially or just for fun with your kids.



Sunday Nissen:

Sunday always knew she wanted a career that helped people. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University in Psychology. While waiting for an opportunity to open up in her major, she got a job at a retirement home as a rehab aide. After working with the elderly and helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals, she realized that a field dealing with the body was for her. Sunday received her certification through the National Personal Training Institute. While at the Institure she completed 500 hours of practical, anatomy, theory, and nutrition. Sunday is also an AFAA certified group exercise instructor. She teaches weights, tabata, and interval training classes. Sunday’s training philosophy is to provide a safe, effective, fun, and challenging workout.

Donna has been working in the fitness industry since 1992. She is an ACE certified personal trainer, AFAA certified fitness instructor as well as a certified spin instructor. Over the years she has taught many different forms of group exercise. She believes in encouraging and teaching her students to find their own path to keep strong and healthy over a lifetime. In her off time she is a certified high school referee for basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Kathy has been a Mad Dogg certified spinning instructor for over 10 years. Kathy gained her love of spinning at WHF — as well as her husband Tom who she met as her instructor in her very first spinning class! Professionally Kathy is an Associate Publisher for healthcare publications focusing on diabetes and arthritis. Kathy enjoys her home life with her husband Tom, son Luke, and 2 Vizsla’s.

Sharon has been a certified personal trainer since 2008, Mad Dogg Spin instructor since 2012, & TRX certified since 2013. Sharon is our interval girl; she teaches HIIT, SPIN, and various other classes. Her workouts are a balance of cardio, weight lifting, and body weight exercises. Sharon pushes her clients to work hard & have fun at the same time. She enjoys helping clients reach their fitness goals, no matter what their fitness level may be.

Jill Thistle is a group exercise instructor certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) with a passion for teaching fitness. While Jill is an avid weight lifter and particularly enjoys high intensity interval training, she loves to teach students of all levels in many different types of classes. Currently, Jill is writing Mommy Muscles, a motivational book for women on how to be fit, eat healthy, and stay positive.

Since 1992, teacher of yoga,meditation and stress management at all levels, meeting the special needs of those who have neglected aspects of their fitness (strength, flexibility, balance, etc). Emphasis on how yoga compliments other activities (sports, workplace demands and leisure activities). Assistance with desired lifestyle changes (work habits, sleep, diet and posture).
